Phoenix Kick Boxing Academy provides A Martial Arts sporting activity to the community. The venue is based in Blackburn at the Livesey Children an All Age Centre. The Centre was once St Andrew School just off Scotland Bank Terrace.
The Club is run by two voluntary instructors Dave Garth 6th Dan and Paul Fleck 5th Dan. The club caters for people of all ages from seven upwards and is very much a multi cultural discipline with students in our group with differing faiths, background, gender, ages abilities and disabilities.
Originally martial arts was designed as a self defence against attack from warring bodies who wished to riot and pillage farms and religious temples for the wealth within. Many of the weapons found in martial arts clubs were derived from farming tools adapted to fend off would be aggressors.
These days’ people come from a variety of backgrounds with their own reasons for taking for wanting to train. Some wish to learn how to defend themselves, or build their own confidence within society others wish to improve their fitness and general health. Some enjoy the competitive aspect of tournaments or achieving grading status with the belt system. Others just want to have fun and be apart of a great community club.
Whatever the motivation for joining a martial arts club is, Phoenix Kick Boxing Academy will endeavour to cater for your needs.
